Design

On the first look, the design looks pretty good and clean, with a printed logo high on the shin and a stitched up one at the back.

With its slim and lightweight design, premium leather, and the triple-layer foam padding, these shin guards are an excellent offering from Yokkao.

One of the things we liked the most was how lightweight they are and how well they protect your shin.

The balance between weight and protection is something that is lacking with many products but not with this one.

Fit

As far as the fit goes they tend to go a little bigger. I mean, they still fit pretty well. However, if you are wondering between getting a size M or L, for example, you would probably be better off with the Medium.

On the other hand, the straps hold up pretty well.

A common problem when doing Muay Thai/Kickboxing is that you will find your shinguards starting to slip off after a couple of kicks. However, the inside is made from a non-slip material which helps a lot with stability.

As a result, with these shin guards, you are going to run into this problem a lot less.

Protection

Protection is where these shin guards really shine. As we already said, Yokkao nailed the balance between weight and protection. The reason we are saying that is because they look a little bit heavy probably because of the genuine leather used.

However, when you actually put them on your legs you’ll feel that they are very light and well-fitted.

With its triple-layer protection foam, you’ll feel your shins well-protected even from the hardest kicks. Additionally, Matrix shinguards have a shin-shaped layer that is easily spotted.

I don’t know if this is made with just a design purpose or actual protection but I know one thing – they look great and offer great protection.

Price & Conclusion

As far as the price, this product positions itself on the higher end. The price is competing with other major Muay Thai and combat sports brands.

That should not discourage you from buying, though. These shin guards are an excellent product and if you are serious about training and you want to train with the best equipment possible, then you must give the Yokkao Matrix shin guards a shot.

Yokkao definitely delivers what they promise and you won’t regret using their equipment.
